The Game

There is a fair man
- fair as love or war…
I am his Star and he
its Beloved King

He is the King and I am Scheherazade

It has been one thousand nights
Striving to win the game
Afraid
that my stories will run out
that he will send for the daggers

So I proceed
to turn this around
buy some time
lure the King to tell a story
-and if I may say so-
let Him become my Scheherazade
